On board Philippine Airline’s PR 175, my friend Tita Helen and I left the airport at 8am. It was a lovely morning. Maganda ang sikat ng araw and from my point of view at the aircraft’s window, Metro Manila’s skycrapers were reduced in scale shortly after take off. It was a nice, short trip. I was on seat 22A and Tita Helen was on 22B.
We arrived in Tagbilaran after an hour. At the airport we haggled with taxi drivers charging us 350pesos for our trip to a resort in Panglao Island. However, we ended up in a tricycle na may mabait na driver who charged us 200pesos (syempre binigyan namin siya ng tip). The trip from Tagbilaran airport to Panglao Island took us about 30 minutes.
The resort was nice: sobrang serene, overlooking the sea. Meron din jacuzzi at malaking swimming pool, plus the staff were super-friendly!
After lunch, Tita Helen and I took a nap kasi nakaantok talaga, sobra, ang ambiance ng resort. Very relaxing. When we woke up, we trekked a trail down to the ocean below the hill where the resort is situated. Ang layo pala nun! According to the resort’s staff, 3 kilometers pala yung nilakad namin he he he he but it was fun, though. Medyo nakakatakot nga lang kasi kaming dalawa lang ni Tita Helen ang naglalakad sa trail. Walang ibang tao. Then puro damo at talahib ang dadaanan at puro hoots lang ng birds (owls yata yun kasi hooting eh he he he he) ang maririnig mong sound sa paligid. Suma total, 6 kms ang nilakad namin, balikan he he he. At ang nakakainis lang was, after namin maglakad nang ganun kalayo, we didn’t even got the chance to have our feet wet by the ocean kasi naman, naka-padlock ang gate papunta sa ibaba, sa dagat! Haaaaaaaay….
That night, nag-swim kami sa pool hanggang mga 9pm siguro.
There were foreigners in the resort, mga British. Ay, meron din palang dalawang Japanese kasama nila ang partner na Filipina.
We hit the bed as early as 9:30pm kasi maaga pa ang lakad namin the next day.
