It always makes me smile whenever I see significant things from the past like this clothing article which I wore when I was a baby.
What makes me very fond of it is not only because of the fact that it has been in existence for almost 30 years now, but also because my mother sewed and embroidered it with her own hands, without using a sewing machine. She did not buy the clothes I wore when I was a baby, she sewed them–onesies, sleep-ins, tees, cotton mittens, and many others. She also made me cloth nappies which she decorated with intricate embroideries.
This very important thing now resides in my cabinet. I’m keeping it as a reminder of my mother’s diligence, patience, and love. I imagine her sewing those infant clothes when she was pregnant, excited for the day she would give birth to her first born.
