My siblings and I are fond of surprising our mother with our "instant" arrival in our hometown. I am overwhelmed with feelings when I see my mother's reaction as soon as she sees me enter our door unexpectedly. I seldom go home. I feel lucky already if I get to visit her twice a year. My parents live in a very far province. If I travel through bus, it will take me 21 hours to get there. Yes, that's how far my hometown is from where I live now. If I take the plane, it's only an hour away. But the plane company has only three flights in a week : Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Either way, I will have to take a week off from work. And it will not be soooo easy.
I know my mother is hoping all three of her children who are in Manila to go home for the town fiesta. We've already told her none of us could go home. But it was all a drama, of course. While my sister and I could not definitely make it, my brother could. So tomorrow morning, he will be arriving unannounced in our home. I could only imagine the surprised look on my mother's face. My brother's lucky. His bosses allowed him a week off. Well, maybe in recognition of his performance (he's sooooo hardworking hehehehe). I envy him because he could spend a week with my parents.
I hope I could go home, too. Soon. And see once again the smile on my mother's face as I enter the door.
