It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.
- -Robert Louis Stevenson
A Garden of Verses (1885)
It's been raining since lat night. There's something about the rain that fascinates me. Like today, I heard many of my officemates wishing they're home and in bed. I saw some little boys bathing in the rain, laughing and giggling. I saw on TV an interview of a farmer who's grateful for the successive rainy days. Rain makes people happy.
I am happy when it rains specially when I'm home. I love to sit near the window and watch the rain pour down or curl up in bed and just listen to the drops. When it rains and the wind isn't blowing hard, I leave the windows open because I love to feel the cool air and watch the curtain dance to the soft blows of the wind. I imagine the soft wind being the conductor with a baton and the curtain, the orchestra. Except that the conductor never hesitates when he wields his baton. The wind does, very often. It blows to and fro and after a moment, it stops as if thinking what to do next or where to go and then it blows again. And the confused curtain couldn't do anything but yield.
I smile when it rains after a long parade of sunny days. I smile with the flowers and the plants. I know how it feels to be drenched with something you so longed to have, to be flooded with the necessity which you have been deprived of. Ahh, relief…comfort..jubilation.
The rain takes control of me sometimes and I let it. It's God's way of getting his message across, it's His simple way of saying “Sit. Relax. Smile. Enjoy the moment. I love you.”
hi, ate lanie. dito po ako sa manila, but i was born and raised in Northern Samar. i speak waray po, but can understand a little cebuano (gamay lang).
hehehe ako rin, naranasan ko maligo sa ulan with some childhood friends, tapos tatapat sa alulod ng house para kunyari may shower hehehe. pero in fairness, malinis naman ang alulod hehehe.
happy halloween, too. yup, may trick and trick but i noticed only in big department stores. kids wearing costumes would visit the stalls. pero yung tulad dyan na nagpupunta ang mga bata sa mga bahay, wala naman akong napansin. pero malapit na mag-ikot ang mga bata dito sa mga bahay, kasi magpa-Pasko na! yipeeee! it’s my favorite time of the year! ingat ‘te!
Posted by beatriz at October 31, 2006, 12:50 pmHeya! Well, masarap talagang matulog pag umuulan. At isa pa, masarap talaga kung maliligo ka sa ulan. Pwede kang sumayaw, tumalon, sumigaw and enjoy your day. ^-^
