World, welcome the new batch of Filipino nurses!
This morning, as they marched with their parents for their oathtaking ceremony, the passers of the 2006 nursing board examination, were all smiles. I could sense their pride especially when they recited their oath which was followed by clapping of hands which filled the Cuneta Astrodome.
The board exam's topnotchers were seated beside their parents in front of the stage. When the topnotchers were requested to go up the stage and receive their certificate, the parents were beaming with pride. I couldn't help but wonder if they have given their children a reward for being in the topnotchers' list. A new car? A new hi-end gadget? A party, perhaps? Sigurado akong may mga nag-blowout sa kanila. If I were one of these board passers, a topnotcher at that, and my parents have the means to throw a party, I'd request them to hold a party in a place like Trattoria Acqua, a restaurant in La Jolla with authentic home style Italian food. What makes this restaurant even more interesting is that it has a breathtaking view of the La Jolla coastline. Isn't it a cool way to celebrate?
