Missing the Ink on My Fingers

It used to be that the fingers in my right hand were often stained with ink whenever I would write with a pen. I used to be hooked on writing using a pen, filling up pages with my own handwriting. I enjoyed the flow of the ink and the graceful letters.

Now the fingers in my right hand seldom get inked because I seldom have the chance to write with a pen. The computer has replaced the role of the pen in my life. I can compose letters faster with it. I can copy texts faster with it. I can do many other things faster and easier with it. The pen isn’t mightier than the sword anymore. The computer is.

But I still miss the pen. I still miss the ink on my fingers. It brings back some simple, happy memories: the gentle hand of my mother guiding my hand when she first taught me to write, the kind faces of my teachers who reinforced the things my mother had taught me, the smiling faces of my grade one classmates, the sleepy town I grew up in, the dog which had the habit of accompanying me to school and waiting for me at the gate when my class is over, my father’s bike which he sometimes used to take me to school, the uncemented road (about 4 kilometers) which I had to walk on to get to school when father had a lot of mails to deliver and he couldn’t take me to school on his bike, and the flowers along the uncemented road which my classmates and I picked on our way home. I smile when I remember these things. I guess I couldn’t live without a pen. And I would never ever mind if my fingers get inked when I'm writing.

oo nga. pens are replaced by computers. instead of the handwriting its the print we see nowadays. oh well. the prize of modernization.

I agree. I’m a pen writer most of the time except when blogging came into existence…hardly do I see any handwriting anymore…what else will I analyze?

I always keep a pen, though. Because I have puzzle books to answer. I got crossword, cryptograms, and lately, sudoku (but that needs a pencil!)…which my kids now are trying their heads into also…may kaagaw na ako! may kaagaw na ako sa computer, may kaagaw pa ako sa puzzles ko! Well, at least I know their interest is not vain…

oo nga, dati poems and stories are written more romantically through someone’s handwriting laboriously done through trial and error wasting ink and paper in the process…

Oh…where’s my pen??
I hardly used it na rin. I noticed na iba na rin handwriting ko and me difficulty to hold the pen din.

JC, sudoku? yan ba yung mooo-mooo sa horror movie na The Ring?yung mahaba ang hair? kidding. uso nga ang sudoku ngayon. ok yan na gamot sa boredom kasi at the same time na-exercise ang brain mo.

Bea, here’s a simple but effective way to stop yourself from missing the ink in your fingers. Perhaps you might even despise it after this:
1. get a pen
2. open and cut the ink tube in half
3. rub the ink that comes out all over your fingers.

I miss my pen too.. I seldom used the pen na rin, kaya lalong pumangit handwriting ko hehe…

BTW, pasensya na di ko pa nagawa yung tagged mo sa akin pero promise i’ll do it one of this days..
